Loupes

Precision Loupes for the Gemmologist - triplet, achromatic, aplanatic
KRÜSS manufactures a range of models of high precision loupes.
These little helpers offer an essential tool for every gemmologist.
All KRÜSS loupes have achromatic (distortion-free) and aplanatic (free from spherical aberration) lenses, and offer magnification ranging from 10x to 28x.
Loupes with aplanatic and chromatic corrections are called triplets as they are composed of a three lens system.

Triplet
Triplet magnifying glasses have a special lens design: 3 individual lenses are combined. This technology was developed to correct aberrations. Each of the 3 lenses has 2 radii and the distances between the lenses differ. Colour length correction (achromatic correction) and edge blur (aplanatic correction) can be largely compensated for with this design.
